A Total of 231 Irregular Migrants Was Rescued In The Area Of Lesvos In 7 Different Push-Back Incidents

The details of the 7 push-back incidents that occurred in the area of Lesvos on 02 April 2021 are as given below:
 
Push-back Incident-1: 
At around 03.30 a.m., on 02 April 2021, it was detected that there was an intervention by Frontex asset and Greek Coast Guard asset with bow no. LS-618 on an inflatable boat irregular migrants aboard on Greek side between Dikili and Lesvos, and that the boat was rendered immovable so as to push it back to Turkish territorial waters. Upon arrival of the dispatched 2 Turkish Coast Guard boats on the scene, they decided not to push said group of irregular migrants back, Greek Coast Guard boat numbered LS-618 took the migrants and sailed away with them heading to Lesvos.
 
Push-back Incident-2: 
At around 04.30 a.m. on 02 April 2021, it was reported that there was a group of irregular migrants in an inflatable boat in the region between Dikili and Lesvos, and the dispatched Turkish Coast Guard boat rescued 22 irregular migrants on the inflatable boat pushed back by Greek assets to Turkish territorial waters.
 

Push-back Incident-3:
At around 05.45 a.m. on 02 April 2021, it was detected on Greek side of the midline between Lesvos and Ayvalık that there was an intervention by Greek Coast Guard asset with bow no. LS-080 and a Greek Zodiac boat on an inflatable boat with a group of irregular migrants aboard, and that the boat was rendered immovable. A vessel of Naval Forces Command that was already in this area and the dispatched 3 Turkish Coast Guard boats arrived in the scene and rescued 46 irregular migrants that were pushed back by Greek Coast Guard assets to Turkish territorial waters at around 10.00 a.m. and took them to Küçükkuyu.

 

Push-back Incident-4:
At around 07.00 a.m., on 02 April 2021, it was detected on Greek side in the northwest of Güneş Island of the province of Ayvalık that there was an intervention by Frontex asset of Italia and Greek Coast Guard asset on an inflatable boat irregular migrants aboard, and that the boat was rendered immovable so as to push it back to Turkish territorial waters.
Upon arrival of the dispatched 1 Turkish Coast Guard boat on the scene, they decided not to push said group of irregular migrants back, Greek Coast Guard boat took the migrants and sailed away with them heading to Lesvos.

 

Push-back Incident-5:
At around 08.00 a.m. on 02 April 2021, it was reported that there was a group of irregular migrants in an inflatable boat off the coast of Sarımsaklı of the province of Ayvalık, and the dispatched Turkish Coast Guard boat rescued 38 irregular migrants on the inflatable boat, whose fuel hose was cut and pushed back by Greek assets to Turkish territorial waters, and the rescued migrants were taken to Ayvalık.

 
Push-back Incident-6: 
At around 08.00 a.m. on 02 April 2021, off the coast of Denizköy, the district of Dikili in İzmir Turkish Coast Guard Command rescued a total of 85 irregular migrants on 2 inflatable boats, whose fuel tanks were removed and pushed back to Turkish territorial waters by Greek Coast Guard asset numbered LS-060 and Greek boat of Magna class, and the rescued migrants were taken to Dikili.
 
Push-back Incident-7: 
At 12.33 p.m. on 02 April 2021, it was reported that there was a request for help from a group of irregular migrants on an inflatable boat off the coast of Ahmetçe, the district of Ayvacık in Çanakkale, and the dispatched Turkish Coast Guard arrived on the scene and conducted search but could not find any irregular migrant boat there. During the ongoing search, it was seen that a Greek asset in the midline off the coast of Sivrice was sailing in a suspicious manner by changing its direction constantly, and thus the boats were dispatched to this area. At that moment, a semi-submerged inflatable boat and irregular migrants scattered at sea were detected off the coast of Kuruoba of Cape of Akkaya. 40 irregular migrants rescued by Turkish Coast Guard boats were referred to the Küçükkuyu Station Command of Turkish Coast Guard, and the first-aid service was provided to the rescued migrants by the health officers of 112 Emergency Medical Service who were ready for treatment in the port.
