On 06 December 2020 at 18.50, upon receiving information regarding that there was a group of irregular migrants on a half-sunken life boat which was left to Turkish territorial waters by Greek assets off the coast of Aydın’s Didim district/Tekağaç Burnu. SAR operations were initiated after making coordination with a fishing boat near by the area. 17 irregular migrants composed of women and children were rescued and transferred to Didim Port by TRCG boat.
It was learnt by the statements of the mentioned irregular migrant that they were stuck on Bulamaç Island for 2 days, they captured on the Island, by Greek assets and they were embarked on a Greek Coast Guard ship as 2 groups, women and children separately from the men. Men were hit and kept on the ship. But women and children were left to Turkish territorial waters on a life boat and they were dragged.
On 08 December 2020 at 21.00, 11 irregular migrants in total who were left to be dragged Turkish territorial waters by Greek assets on 2 life boats were rescued off the coast of Muğla’s Bodrum district/Yalıkavak. According to the information received from the rescued irregular migrants, they were the group of men who were separated from the women and children by Greek assets on 06 December 2020. It was seen that they were heavily battered and there were some scars on their bodies. It was also learnt by their statements that their money, their mobile phones and other valuable possessions of them were taken.
