Press Release Concerning The News In The Region of Kardak Rocks
On the website of the newspaper Sözcü, some news have been published with the headlines of “Tension escalating between Turkey and Greece due to Kardak” on 27 December 2021 and “They escalates tension in Kardak on the last day of the year” on 31 December 2021 by journalist “Yaşar ANTER”.
According to the mentioned news, it is briefly stated that “Greek fishing boats and Greek Coast Guard boats sailing towards Kardak Rocks off the coast of Muğla’s Bodrum district have been prevented by Turkish Coast Guard Boat on duty in the region from coming close to the Rocks”, and also some images that are alleged to be associated with the so-called tension have been published.
The aforementioned media organ is publishing similar news striving to create a perception as if the Coast Guard boats of both countries were having such incidents in the same period of time each year, and thereby an effort, which is going beyond its purpose and considered to pursue the aim of causing sensation and tension in the public opinion of both countries, is being exerted.
As it is seen from the images in the published news in question, the news about the tension that is alleged to have occurred between Coast Guard boats of both countries are completely fake and far from facts.
Turkish Coast Guard Command is always ready on a 24/7 basis for ensuring maritime safety and security.
Respectfully announced to the public.
